Partnerships

Partnerships are at the core of what we do. We’re proud to work with partners around the world to advance global health innovations locally and globally.

At IAVI, we join forces with public and private partners to accelerate the development of biomedical innovations in areas where there is no market incentive and to tailor products for the people who need them most.

We have alliances with more than 150 leading global and national organizations. Our diverse network of partners includes other product development partnerships, industry, academia, civil society organizations, government agencies, policymakers, and community members.

We work closely with our advocacy partners to ensure that the necessary resources and policies are in place to support the development of global health innovations.

We work hand in hand with local groups where the need is greatest to understand their needs, support local scientists, and build and advance pathways that enable affordability and access.

We believe in scientific collaboration, and that’s why we share resources with other innovators across the field to help the global health community as a whole succeed.

ADVANCE

ADVANCE (Accelerate the Development of Vaccines and New Technologies to Combat the AIDS Epidemic) was a cooperative agreement intended to last through June 2026 with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to support African and Indian scientists, institutions, and innovative systems of collaboration in designing and testing a globally effective HIV vaccine. As part of IAVI’s 25-year collaboration with USAID, IAVI worked together with its clinical research center partners through ADVANCE to move the field toward the long-term goal of a safe and globally effective HIV vaccine while ensuring these products are available and accessible for populations at risk of infection. After the premature end of ADVANCE in early 2025, IAVI continues to work with clinical research center partners to advance vaccine and antibody development and support the continued strengthening of African research capacity.

CASPR

IAVI was a founding member of CASPR (Coalition to Accelerate & Support Prevention Research), which was designed by AVAC in collaboration with key partners and supported by USAID. The Africa-led coalition of more than a dozen partners was supported by AVAC and was working to change how HIV prevention is pursued and delivered. CASPR supported advocacy networks to strengthen and expand a global cadre of informed, action-oriented advocates for HIV prevention research; translated research and shared accessible resources with advocates and others to ensure scientific advancements translate with policies and practices that uphold the needs and interests of all stakeholders; conducted research preparedness to ensure that rights and interests of trial participants, eventual users and communities were represented and respected from research to rollout; and advocated for policies that support efficient and ethical development, introduction, and use of new HIV prevention options.
