Rajat Goyal heads the IAVI India office, where he oversees the strategic direction of the country program. IAVI’s India program includes an array of HIV vaccine-related scientific, advocacy and community activities. Previously, he served as vice president at ICON Clinical Research, where he was responsible for managing ICON’s clinical operations in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to working at ICON, Goyal was Global Project Director at PATH’s Advancing Rotavirus Vaccine Development project, where he oversaw product development for a range of new vaccines and other health technologies. He also was responsible for advocacy, community engagement, and for developing and managing public-private partnerships for sustainable, ethical and adaptive heath interventions. Prior to joining PATH, he was vice president at Reliance Life Sciences, heading Reliance Clinical Research Services in Mumbai and, before that, Medical Advisor with Dabur India Ltd, a leading oncology products manufacturer in the country. During his tenure at Reliance and Dabur, Goyal was responsible for conceptualizing, implementing and managing applied research programs, including clinical development of biopharmaceutical products. He received his medical degree from King Edwards Memorial Hospital in Mumbai and specialized in hemato-oncology. In addition, Goyal was a research fellow at Rush Cancer Institute in Chicago and a visiting fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and at Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
