Labeeb Abboud provides leadership on legal affairs, business development, intellectual property, risk management, and innovative finance initiatives at IAVI. He advises the board of directors and CEO on governance and strategy, and is responsible for structuring IAVI’s collaborations with academic, industry, and public sector partners to ensure that products developed will be globally accessible and affordable.

Prior to joining IAVI, Abboud had 20 years of experience in international law and finance. Currently, he is chairman of the board of the Global Health Investment Fund, a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-sponsored social impact investment fund focused on accelerating late stage development of vaccines, drugs, diagnostics, and devices to address global health challenges in developing countries. He also serves on the Expert Advisory Group of the Medicines Patent Pool, which seeks to increase access to treatments for HIV, viral hepatitis C, and tuberculosis in low- and middle-income countries, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

He holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
