Vice President and Global Head of Communications
Eric Ferrero leads IAVI’s global communications strategies, increasing awareness, engagement, and support for IAVI’s work among policymakers, the scientific field, partners, and the public.
Ferrero brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit, philanthropic, and government sectors. He served as Vice President for Communications at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, where he oversaw health care and political communications nationally, and he served as Director of Communications at the Innocence Project, which uses DNA testing to free wrongfully convicted people and pursues systemic reforms in forensic science and other aspects of criminal justice. Before joining IAVI, Ferrero served in a leadership appointment in New York City government and previously oversaw public affairs for Amnesty International USA.
Earlier in his career, Ferrero led communications and advocacy strategies to advance equality and dignity for people with HIV and AIDS, and for LGBTQ people, at the American Civil Liberties Union and Lambda Legal. He has served on the Board of Directors at Suicide Prevention International and the Positive Health Project, and he served on the Communications Advisory Board for Gay Men’s Health Crisis.
