HIV Prevention: Progress and Promise in the Research on Microbicides, Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and HIV Vaccines

This booklet answers some frequently asked questions about three potential HIV prevention methods that are currently undergoing research throughout the world: microbicides, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and HIV vaccines. If these interventions are proven to be safe and effective, and if they are made widely available and used together with current prevention methods, they would contribute towards reducing the number of new cases of HIV and AIDS worldwide.
