Although India has been a global leader in pediatric vaccine production, its involvement in AIDS vaccine research and development has been limited, particularly in the private sector where not a single company is currently contributing. While several market and policy challenges have deterred both private and public sectors from greater engagement, there are opportunities to improve the policy and business environment for AIDS vaccine R&D in India.
